Compassion Fatigue

I was listening to Lee Harris’ Energy Update for June. He speaks about compassion fatigue. How much energy you give out and how exhausting it can become. We cannot give what we no longer have. He talks about developing empathy endurance. I love that!

It is hard to give when we are shifting. These times are about setting boundaries, getting clear with what you desire, and how you show up with those around you. I, for one, am setting boundaries left and right, up and down. It is uncomfortable but profoundly necessary.

Love doesn’t mean you are a welcome mat to be stepped on. It doesn’t mean you have to give all of you in order to make another feel better. You can definitely build on healthy compassion by recognizing where the energy is being utilized and how it is being exchanged.

We don’t have to love with a heavy heart those who ruffle our feathers. We have to love with an opened one and that means developing empathy endurance. That’s how we love. That’s how we connect to the divine. People and situations get placed in our path to evolve and expand our higher selves. We deserve to acknowledge those parts of others and us.

I love. You love. We all love one way or another. No two loves are the same. No two souls can match exactly. We love because that’s our job in this place. We love the impossible ones in different ways than the possible ones. We love with courage and vulnerability and the willingness to expose ourselves. We love with a burning emotion of overcoming anything. And, when we love from a place of truth, forgiveness, compassion, grace, and boundaries, there is no such thing as impossible. This is the muscle of empathy endurance.

I love you,

Millie
