Give grace

A dear friend visited me this week. She shared that she had a massive night of the soul experience at the end of last year. It was a push and pull that had been coming for several years and she had not faced those challenges and triggers. Eventually they came right up to the surface and she quit her job, took a hiatus, and moved on to shift her life.

In spite of the changes, there was still a nagging, a yearning to release. Soon it would all come up and she had to face the pain.

Those dark nights of the soul are transformational moments.

They aren't weaknesses but consists of major strengths.

They leave us doubting our self-worth, deplete us of emotional connections, and feed our egos with resentments... at times.

Another friend, who is a pastor, told her that we all need to learn to give grace to our shadows. He is so right! We are so quick to diminish the hurt while trying to cover it up. But it's in the shadows that we are able to sit and find cultivation that turns into divine light and guidance. It's in those moments of sorrow and strife that we feel our humanness connect with our spirituality.

Each time that I have experience a major life transformation through the dark night of the soul, I am made anew. I am filled with grace and a little more wisdom.

I love Max Lucado's quote: "Grace is the voice that calls us to change and then gives us the power to pull it off."

How do you navigate those moments?

Sending love to all,

Millie
