The Thing About Loneliness
Loneliness, my dear friends, is a tender ache within our hearts—an echo of longing to be truly understood. It can embrace us even in the midst of a crowded room, where our souls yearn for a deeper connection. Yet, let us distinguish it from being alone, for aloneness is a conscious choice, a sacred space we enter willingly. Loneliness, on the other hand, is a feeling that tugs at our essence, seeking solace and understanding.
The other day, a dear friend, (Linda Christine who is an amazing healer) and I embarked on a profound journey of exploration. We delved into the depths of that empty feeling, seeking to understand its purpose and meaning. In her wisdom, she shared a transformative session she had with her mentor. He revealed to her a beautiful truth—that we are vessels meant to be emptied. It is in this process of releasing, darlings, that we create space for new experiences, emotions, and growth to flow into our lives.
Yes, we are vessels, reservoirs of wisdom and knowledge.
We collect and store experiences, emotions, and lessons, embracing them as part of our sacred journey. But as vessels, we must also recognize the need to empty ourselves, to release what no longer serves us. For it is in this act of letting go that we make room for the lessons that await us, ready to guide us towards our highest potential.
Let us acknowledge the intricate web of illusions that often entangles us, my dear ones. We navigate through life, seeking truth and understanding, discerning what resonates with our souls. Yet, we also find comfort in clinging to the familiar, in holding onto things for a sense of security. But imagine, just for a moment, the beauty that unfolds when we surrender to the process of emptying.
Can you feel that? Can you imagine it?
In those moments of emptiness, we are invited to sit with our lessons, to embrace the stillness and wisdom they offer. Yes, loneliness may arise, and we may feel the urge to fill that void swiftly, for the unknown can be uncomfortable. Yet, it is within the gentle embrace of not knowing that true transformation awaits. It is in these sacred pauses that we release and grow, expanding the essence of our spiritual nature.
In these instances, I find solace in the teachings of Buddhism. I embrace the practice of emptying, allowing myself to sit in the void and explore the profound lessons that await me there. It is true that sitting in the emptiness is not always easy. The discomfort of not knowing can be daunting and I struggle with it often. Yet, I have come to realize that it is precisely in these moments that my soul finds liberation. As my friend, April Novoa, says “Part of loneliness is not feeling understood.” In that loneliness I am able to connect to those intimate parts of myself that others may not understand.
Let us embark on this journey of emptying, of embracing the vastness of the unknown. Let us release the weight of what no longer serves us and open ourselves to the infinite possibilities that lie ahead. In the sacred space of emptiness, we find the courage to grow, to evolve, and to radiate the light of our true spiritual nature.
So, the next time you feel the whispers of loneliness, know that it is an invitation—a gentle nudge from your soul urging you to embrace the process of emptying. Embrace the discomfort, for within it lies the transformative power that will shape your journey. Trust in the wisdom of your essence, my loves, and surrender to the dance of release and growth. For it is in this sacred space that you will find the solace, understanding, and connection your heart truly longs for.
I love you and your ability to sit in the emptiness.
