Traveling Memories
I lay scanningthrough the hard driveof memoriesto find a momentimmersed in the bliss of love.I don’t know why tonightI’ve chosen to godown this Memory Lanewhen there areother streets, boulevards, and wayswith far better photographsin the corner of my mind. I hear the soundsof summer night:crickets, bull frogs, cicadas, cascades of waterfalling into the pond. Sleep got lost down the parkwayand I can no longerfight with the pillows, the blanket, a cold bed,for comfortwhile choosing to ignorethe thoughts arriving quickly. I lay trying to findthe rhythm of nightbreathing the tight humid airof the roomimagining and reliving, changing and adding,to the stories from long ago. There is lossin my timelinethat never coincideswith some major events. The memories replaymovies of youth, sadness and joy, antagonists and heroes.I smile at the darknessas I journey backthrough the lighted pathof Memory Lane –returning to this placewhere life is sweeter;where peace puts the pieces of mein perfect order. I close my eyesto.find.sleep.at last.in Destiny Way....
